The Daily Courier: Atta O'Brien obituary is in the Jan 13, 1969 issue of the paper. She was 95 and died in Mather. She died in the Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg. Exact date of death is not listed. Her name is listed as Mrs. Atta Burwell O'Brien. She was born March 5, 1873, at Davistown, a daughter of the late William F. and Malinda Wilkinson Burwell. Surviving were a son , Dorsey, of Uniontown and two daughters, Mrs. Juanita Fish of Cokeburn and Mrs. Lynn Townsend of Mather. Her husband Richard preceded her in death.
There is an article in The Evening Standard, Uniontown, Wed., March 18, 1964. There was a suprise 91st birthday party at the home of Mt. and Mrs. Kenneth Townsend of Mather for Atta O'Brien. Her birthday was March 5. People who attended the party included James Townsend, Renee Townsend, Mrs. Rose Townsend, Kenneth Townsend, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Fish and daughters, Karen and Lynnellen. The article states that Atta O'Brien was the former Atta Burwell and lived for many years near Davistown.
1920 census for Luzerne Twp. Richard knew little about his parents, he has them listed as being born in the United States, not any particular state. He was 64. The census taker used very creative spelling. The others are listed as follows-
Atta, wife, 46
Bessie, 17
Lennie, 13
Dorsie, 11
Wanita, 6

Burwell Cemetery , in Dunkard Township , Greene County , Pennsylvania . It is on what was the original John Wilkinson farm which he bought in 1829. I contend but cannot prove that John, Druscilla, and Sarah Long, Wilkinson, Garrison are also buried here and there are possibly others. There is room. Only the upper half of the cemetery has visible stones. Your ggrandmother Atta or her sister Arizona maintained this cemetery until death, it has gone unmaintained since. It is now owned by a coal company, who just recently bought the property on which it sits. There is a multimillion dollar coal mine operation just beginning with it’s opening on what was our grandfather Wilkinson’s farm. I never knew any of the Burwell’s myself, our cousin Allen Wilkinson who is still living visited them at their home on the Burwell farm which was part of John Wilkinson’s farm. I am not sure of the person that made that picture that I sent, but it must have been a Burwell as I know of no artist relatives other than the Burwell’s. My Grandmother always said it was drawn by a relative from Greene County . There is one more tombstone in the Burwell cemetery: James Elmore Wilkinson, son of my ggrandfather, Elmore Wilkinson. He must have died while visiting his grandparents in Greene County .
More later. Cousin Scottie Wilkinson
